Lukrezia Lukrezia by constanze

Mag. Constanze-Catharina Czutta, born in Vienna/Austria, studied art history 2000-2004 in Vienna and earned her Masters in renaissance portrait painting and architecture of classicism in central Europe. She then enrolled for doctoral studies in art history at the University of Salzburg.

Since 2006 focus on oil painting and thematically dealing with various forms of violence and power, and follow their cause.

The images - mainly expressive portraits – are showing shattered emotional worlds. Dead, dark bundles left unnoticed in every corner.

- AT WAR WITH CHILDHOOD -

By suppression of individuality, creativity and imagination, the child, once courageous, loses it self in conformity, fear and ignorance. It forces its way into a uniform of a conscientious adult, and is surrounded more and more like a tank. We finally decide personal strength on the hardness of these arms and weapons. The result is a man who suffocated his inner childwhile he is in danger of losing its authenticity.

Because of learning universal rules that should apply equally to all individuals and the suppression of emotions, we go with badges and flags tireless and obedient in the daily war with our competitors. With constant pressure of expectation and comparison constraint, we develop our best qualities: hypocrisy, ruthlessness and greed.

The intolerance of our own weaknesses allows us to put our creativity and the desire for independence and personal freedom to seek, to destroy. We abandon, which frees and strengthens us to get a cover up that has been created for us, and which is the host of all our faults and sins and has to be replaced by recognized strengths.
